A Cavernous Conundrum: A Fungus Covered Scale

This is a large, very solid and heavy scale-like material. On its surface, it looks as if it is covered in some form of fungus or moss. It could be some form of natural armor. I feel oddly compelled to find out more about it, while on the dark side of this moon.

My curiosity drives me to seek out more about the mysteries of the dark side of Luclin.
Though warnings echo in my head, I want to discover the origins of this fungus covered scale. (in Echo Caverns)
